In support of our continued UK growth, we are currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our Services team. Your role as a Senior Network Engineer

Your role as a Senior Network Engineer is critical to our customer support processes. You will provide Level 2 and Level 3 support to our clients and resolve complex network/systems faults, in addition to implementing customer service requests on a range of networking technologies, including WAN, Managed LAN, Firewalls and DNS.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will support the aim of providing a first-class customer experience.

You will be expected to:
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd Line network and security support to customers for faults and service requests
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times
  • Manage and work within strict Service Level Agreements for fault restoration and resolution
  • Identify and manage any escalated faults, liaising with third party suppliers for major incidents or network improvements, e.g., Juniper TAC
  • Ensure that customers are provided with progress updates relating to incidents/service requests, and that internal systems are kept updated
  • Manage Tickets to meet agreed KPIs
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to junior engineers
  • Contribute to the CSI (Continual Service Improvement) team to enhance and improve customer experience
  • Collaborate with our wider technical community on ad hoc projects

Job requirements

You must be able to demonstrate a skill set and competencies that enable first-class delivery of the responsibilities outlined above.
Additional requirements include:
  • Experience  of WAN infrastructure support, preferably working within a Service Provider Environment/Critical Infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of Routing Protocols, e.g., BGP & OSPF, ISIS
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
  • Experience supporting MPLS networks
  • Experience supporting Wi-Fi technologies
  • Experience with SNMP monitoring products such as Zabbix
  • Access technologies including SHDSL, ADSL, etc.
  • Experience working with ITIL methodology and meeting SLAs
  • CCNP or JNCIS-SP/JNCIP-SP or equivalent knowledge
  • NSE4 or above or equivalent knowledge


Job Specifics


  • This role is based at our Basingstoke office, with flexibility for home-working for up to 2-3 days per week if needed (free hot & cold drinks, breakfast items, snacks, lunches, and regular takeaway Fridays are provided to all staff in the office!)
  • Hours are full-time: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm
  • Flexibility with hours is required in the event of a major incident; the role will also include on-call responsibilities for occasional weekends
