In support of our continued UK growth, we are currently seeking an Installation and Commissioning Engineer to join our Professional Services Team and successfully deliver installation projects to our customers. This is a great opportunity for an individual with at least three years’ experience of installation and commissioning in a networking/ telecommunications environment.


Your role as I&C Engineer

You will join our Professional Services Team, delivering excellent networking solutions to our customers. You will carry out site surveys at customer sites to plan and de-risk installation activities. You will pre-stage equipment based on low-level designs provided by our technical consultants in preparation for onsite installations, and will then conduct onsite deployment of the pre-staged hardware in line with pre-agreed installation plans. The I&C Engineer will be responsible for instructing and overseeing works carried out on customer sites by third-party contractors. You will provide detailed documentation such as site survey reports, pre-stage reports, site acceptance reports and as-built documents. You will conduct predictive desk-based and onsite wireless surveys to plan RF deployments as well as post-deployment RF heat maps. You may also conduct wireless surveys, on occasion, to troubleshoot wireless connectivity or performance issues.
In addition to customer work, the I&C Engineer will conduct network engineering activity on the internal Nomios lab environment, and should be ready to use their networking knowledge and experience to assist in other areas of the business as required.
Some installation works will require travel, and you will need to stay locally for the during of the works – this will be predominantly in the UK and Europe but there will also be a requirement for global travel as required by the business.


Key Responsibilities

In addition to the above, further key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Act as the Lead Installer for all projects assigned to you
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, third-party contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Produce excellent documentation and reports as required by the role
  • Deliver high-quality installation services to our customers, ensuring close attention to detail to minimise any issues and to ensure an excellent customer experience
  • Report installation status and progress to the Project Lead in a timely manner
  • Manage your time and workload to ensure a high degree of efficiency and productivity
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and maintain expertise as required by the business through accreditations and vendor certifications
  • Develop skills and knowledge in alternate technologies and vendor products as required by the business

Job requirements

You must have the following skills and experience:

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence
  • At least three years’ experience of network installation activity, physical deployment of equipment in different environments as well as configuration of networking devices from vendors such as Juniper/MIST and Fortinet
  • At least three years’ experience in planning, deploying and troubleshooting wireless networks
  • Excellent understanding of wireless technologies and standards
  • Excellent written skills to produce high quality documentation
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications including Microsoft Visio
  • Experience of using a wireless survey tool such as Ekahau or AirMagnet
  • Experience of troubleshooting and resolving networking issues
  • Comfortable working in various differing environments such as data centres or building sites, capable of working at height and in using power tools and equipment to complete installation works

Any Juniper, Fortinet, Arista, or Palo Alto certifications are advantageous.


Job Specifics

  • Depending on the type of work assigned, the I&C Engineer may work from home, from our Basingstoke office, or on-site with customers.
  • Hours are full-time: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • There will be travel and overnight stays where necessary.
